Trip Introduction
The trek to the world’s fifth highest mountain Mt. Makalu (8481) is a work of a wonder. Makalu Base camp trek is situated in one of the Nepal’s most popular National Park- Makalu-Barun National Park and Conservation Area. The tranquility of the nature and the placid beauty of the beautiful mountain peaks along with the alpine valley is what awaits the travelers on their journey to Makalu Base Camp Trek in their journey to the Eastern Himalayas.
The Adventure starts from the Tumlingtar to the Village of Num from where they trek down to the Arun River. After witnessing the beautiful Nepalese villages and other gorgeous location including Tashigaon (2057 m), Shipton-La pass and Barun Glacier, travelers definitely won’t be finding any time to get weary. Nature keeps them company and the excitement will have their adrenaline running the whole time. Ascend to the Makalu Base Camp takes around 10 days and descending down takes around 9.
Estimated time for completion of the entire journey is up to 3 weeks including 7-8 hours of daily trek and few days of acclimatization process. The Base camp at the height of 5250m really takes quite a toll on the body without adaptation to the height. However, the trek can be completed by moderated trekkers. The 10 days journey to the Base Camp is filled with the excitement of the trek and the serenity of nature, blend of which keeps the trekkers wanting for more.
